Dont know. This is what I get for trying to rivet it by hand with and anvil and a punch. I totally deserve this.

Lucky I noticed it before it went. When I got to a parking lot the link was about a quarter of the way out.

So a rivet type.

Yea you kinda deserve it. Look into clip types next time. I use them. Never had the link fail on me.

I’m assuming the clip types are universal as long as you get the right size? (i.e. 520)

Yes sir. Rivet is best but I've installed plenty of clip links with no issues.

I’ve got a little tiny park chain tool in my saddle bag and use it about once a year. It’s saved me from a number of long walks. And always carry a spare master link. They’re chain width specific, so buy the master link by the number of cogs in your cassette. The master link for an 8 speed rear end is considerably wider than that for a 10 or 11 cog cassette. Last, some master links for high count cassettes are not reusable- meaning you can only seat them once. I’m too far into *surprise* insomnia to look it up for you, but find (the late, great) Sheldon Brown’s website on bike maintainance. It’s everything you ever wanted to know about bicycles and is still updated regularly and maintained despite Mr. Brown’s untimely passing some years ago.

Oh, or it’s one of those two wheels good things with an engine. In which case, please disregard my earlier comment.

This is why I love a shaft drive. None of that shit is happening.
